Being a Tourist in My Own City: LACMA Free Museum Day

Every second Tuesday of the month is Free Museum Day at the Los Angeles County Museum of Modern Art which I took advantage of for the first time this week! Fair warning, if you plan to take advantage of this great deal be prepared for crowds! All of the designated LACMA parking lots were full so we had to park and walk a bit which really isn’t that bad and actually ended up being cheaper than paying the $16 that the LACMA lots charge.

Of course we made a stop at Urban Light just outside the museum and took the obligatory photo with the lights.

We also went through the Ahmanson Building where they hold the Art of the Ancient World, Egyptian Art and Islamic Art which were some of my favorites with me being an archaeology student. We also this beauty by Andy Warhol.

We also made our way through the Hammer and Art of the Americas buildings before leaving. We didn’t spend much time in the outside exhibits because LA summers are hot and we are wimps.

Before heading back home to the Valley, I stopped at Shake Shack in West Hollywood. It’s been there for some time now but I hadn’t made it over there and I needed my fix! West Coast Shake Shack didn’t disappoint! Just like NY!

And, check out this incredible view of LA on my way home!
